Quarantine concerts | Kiasmos - Live at Lowlands (2018)

I've always had a passion for Iceland. The incredible landscapes, the cold, the aurora borealis, the emotional and creative music that has come out of this country.

In recent years, Iceland has established itself as a phenomenal pole of unique artists, able to transcend language and territorial barriers and assert itself as a major name in the music industry.

One such name is Kiasmos, composed by Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen.

The two producers have combined classical and electronic music with unparalleled mastery. Both are incredible composers for whom I have great esteem and where I seek musical inspiration when I want to create music capable of appealing to the senses and the soul.

Despite all the constraints, life has been slowly returning to normal. The shops have reopened just like the restaurants, which means that gastronomic reviews are also back, although less often for safety reasons as you can imagine.

One of the restaurants I decided to visit was Matateu, a snack bar in Estádio do Restelo in Lisbon. I hadn't been there for a long time and was looking for a space where I could eat typical Portuguese snacks.

For starters, we ordered some peixinhos da horta that was ok, simple, without great taste. We also tried some salmon ceviche which again, was simply ok although the pieces of salmon were too big for what is expected in ceviche and still ovos rotos which was the dish that had the most impact on me because of the quality of transmontano ham.

Conversely, the potato chips were soft, not crispy, and not very tasty. For someone who appreciates French fries as much as I did, it was a disappointment.

As the main course, we opted for the braised tuna tataki with guacamole sauce. It's an interesting dish, with spirit and distinction from the previous ones, and able to match others in sushi restaurants.

The service continues to be ideal with the helpful employees, double care with the customer, and with the will to keep him smiling.

Perhaps that's why it's a restaurant that's more geared to the conviviality of the customers than a gastronomic experience.

NAME A TRACK.png

Journalist, apologist that nothing is too old and that everything can have a second life.

She believes she doesn't know anything about music but has lived surrounded by musicians for years.

Her first musical memories are attributed to her father and from those times she remembers Dire Straits and Simon & Garfunkel.

Also, she has a very cool Instagram feed.

This is her Name a Track.

That reminds you of someone

That reminds you of a place

That turns you on

You listen with your friends

v

That pumps you up for a night out

That goes well with a glass of wine

That’s been with you since your quarantine

Beyoncé - Black Parade

𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 | Beyoncé is back. In honor of Juneteenth—a holiday commemorating the emancipation of slaves in the United States— the Queen released "Black Parade". This new material is indicative that she's ready to enter the rap game, full-on, without fear of competition. The song is perfect for these troubled times we're in as Beyoncé talks about black proudness, womanhood, culture clash, or injustice. She's focused on what the streets are talking about and embraces the struggle of being an afro American in the USA. It doesn't have the power of "Alright" by Kendrick Lamar or the strong force for a BLM march but it's a focal point to ensure that one of the most important black artists of the past decade is in touch with society and unashamedly desires change.

𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 | Bearcubs is a name to remember for those who like indie-electronic like James Blake. Based on Berlin, the producer just released Early Hours, his new album after his 2018 debut Ultraviolet. Last year, he scored the film Relativity. Early Hours is Bearcubs’ explorations into different electronic styles that are held together with a groovy synthwork. It’s a great album for summer days and cool nights.
