𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 | With an evocative synth-pop anthem called "My love was like the rain", Låpsley is back after her debut album Long Way Home, released in 2016. The singer debuted an EP last year calling the songs "emotional love, physical desire, depression and self-worth. Everything I’ve gone through in the last four years is in these four songs". The track is a perfect anthem for these winter days.

I really love pork chops. It's one of my favorite types/cuts of meat. It's really tasty - if the meat is good - and you can mix it up with a bunch of different ingredients and sauces. I found this recipe on Delish, tried it yesterday and it was really good.

It's fairly easy and fast to do, so you can try it for an evening dinner or for a lunch meal.

INGREDIENTS

4 boneless pork chops

Kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper

2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil

8 oz. baby bella mushrooms, sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 c. heavy cream

1/2 c. freshly grated Parmesan

1 tsp. dried oregano

Pinch crushed red pepper flakes

3 c. packed baby spinach

COOKING

Start by seasoning the pork chops on both sides with salt and pepper. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat oil. Add pork chops and cook until golden and cooked through. Then, remove them and place them on a plate to keep warm.

Add mushrooms to skillet and cook until softened, 5 minutes. Then add garlic and cook until fragrant, 1 minute more.

Add heavy cream, Parmesan, oregano, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Season with salt and pepper. Bring sauce to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 3 minutes. Add spinach and cook until wilted, 2 minutes more.

Return pork chops to skillet and cook until warmed through 5 minutes.

Branko, Ana Moura & Conan Osiris - Vinte Vinte

𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 | 2019 was a good year for the Portuguese producer Branko. With a lot of concerts and new music, he made a statement: his music has no boundaries and the exclamation point is here with "Vinte Vinte", a new song that counts with the fadista Ana Moura and the singer Conan Osiris. Mixing Portuguese rhythms with the forgotten rhythms of Chula, the song is right up the alley of Branko and his likeness to convey different sounds in one track.

El Cabron - Largo Santos 5, 1200-808 Lisboa

First things first: happy new year! I hope you had a good start in 2020 and it remains a good year!

This time I’m gonna talk about El Cabron, a Mexican restaurant located in Santos. I and some friends choose this place for dinner for the last meal of 2019. I’ve never been there before and I was excited to try out a new Mexican place in Lisbon.

The menu was pre-chosen and for the price, it sounded really cool. It had totopos y pico de gallo and quesadillas for starters and then tacos or burritos for the main course. Lastly, he had homemade churros. All for 35€. That’s really cheap considering it was a meal in new year’s eve.

The place as a cool Mexican vibe, with a lot of cultural references such as wrestling masks, painted skulls, Mexican music and a good set of neon lights that draw the attention. It’s an Instagram catchy place where you feel welcomed. As we began to sit – we were eight people – a lot of other people began coming into dinner as well and in a few minutes, the restaurant was packed.

At this time, some problems began. There were only two employees, one was preparing cocktails behind the bar and the other was attending the tables. I don’t understand how any restaurant owner believes two employees are enough to serve on a busy night like this. Of course, it went sour, with us complaining as were other tables. The services was a mess, although the two guys tried their best.

Foodwise, it didn’t amaze me or left a good impression. The starters were good, with the totopos beeing tasty and crunchy and the guacamole had really good flavor. The margaritas were nice, although some juices were not fresh from fruit. That was a bummer. If you’re going to have a cocktail, you shouldn’t drink with bottled juice.

As for the tacos, they sure weren’t amazing. We ordered a bunch of different types and some were okay but must were simply not good, especially the ones with cow tongue. It just doesn’t fit at all.

I guess El Cabron is one of those Mexican restaurants that seems really cool and hipster but the food does not match the ambiance. It’s blend, simple, with not much heart in it. Lisbon has a good variety of these kinds of restaurants and for me, El Cabron simply doesn’t cut it.
