Sunday Service Choir - Lift Up Your Voices

Kanye-West-Planning-Reality-Show-About-Sunday-Serv

𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 | Kanye West is a different person these days. At least, so it seems. His new public faith is commanding the music that comes out of his ideas and inspirations. After releasing "Jesus is King", the rapper and producer just released "Jesus is born", along with the Sunday Service Choir. Using gospel as a starting point, the album is a dedication to worship music and especially, to the faith that guides the musician's life. It's a new musical path for Kanye and it seems to harness a strength that was missing in his latest albums. You can check the album here: https://open.spotify.com/album/65zhpgwMMRxncpa7zHckQ6?si=uuAZgqF9TLKetixga5eEsQ

Catching Flies - Yŭ

𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 | The song title means "Rain" in Chinese, which probably explains why it's the dominant lyric of the song. Embroiled in the hypnotic vocal samples that softly open the song, to the melody lead and hypnotic percussion, this gem from Catching Flies is the jewel from the album "Silver Linings". The mixture of jazz, hip-hop and electronic creates a truly original and refreshing sound, for those who enjoy the sounds of Tom Misch or Bonobo.

The National @ Campo Pequeno - 12 | 12 | 19

18.12.19 | Sounds & Flavours

IMG_20191212_211654.jpg

I've seen The National about ten times since 2007.

The first time I saw them was at Aula Magna, when they came to present Boxer, the album that released them to stardom. At least in Portugal. Since then I have seen them live at numerous festivals and in their own name and never disappoint. They are from my favorite bands. They have arenas-filled rock sound, complex yet realistic lyrics, extremely competent musicians, and Matt Berninger is today's coolest vocalist.

Once again, it was an amazing concert.

PANDA CANTINA

Panda Cantina - Rua da Prata, 252, 1100-052 Lisboa

The cold weather in Lisbon invites hot dishes that fill the belly with satisfaction and flavors and for that, there are few things better than traditional Chinese ramen.

The perfect place is called Panda Cantina and is in downtown Lisbon, more specifically in Rua da Prata, arriving at Praça do Municipio.

49241496_313238192646176_6071695601639096320_o.jpg

On a cold Sunday night, I went to experience this space that I have been talking about very well. I was soon told not to risk it spicy because it is really strong and to arrive early because the restaurant makes no reservations and is not very big. It takes about thirty people.

The restaurant may go unnoticed for many people as the restaurant is “hidden” behind frosted glass in a house that was once an ice cream store. Upon entering, I had the feeling of being transported to a typical Chinese restaurant with a kitchen-facing counter where the ramen is made, while a large common table occupies the center of the room.

In the background, a huge neon sign gives light to the room and provides the mood we need to eat.

The menu is quite simple: Chinese pork, beef or tofu ramen. There's nothing else. I chose the beef, which is already slightly spicy, so I decided not to risk more levels of spicy. They go from 1 to 5. The latter is really for champions and stomach-burning lovers, they say.

45296884_288071498496179_7494595490592325632_o.jpg

In a short time, I got a bowl of broth prepared for three hours, noodles that take 30 minutes to make thanks to the chef's talent and a fantastic beef, sweet and tender. It took me the first bite to realize that I was facing the best ramen in Lisbon.

Flavors are a trip to Chinese culture, with the broth being the basis of this trip where you can taste different ingredients such as soybean sprouts, seaweed, and coriander. It's food of comfort, warmth, pure satisfaction of those who leave home on a Sunday and expect to eat something as good as this.

Panda Cantina is one of those restaurants that convinces us as soon as we take the first bite. It's cheap, good, well located and although you don't make reservations, you can get there and get some space to eat ramen.
